BQC Community Center
Our BQC Community Center provides a critical, inclusive third space that is, a community space outside of home and work, for our 18+ inter-generational LGBTQ+ community members to gather downtown. Events and activities are free at the community center.
Our center hosts:
Affinity group meetups; common interests or identities
Workshops, classes, game and movie nights
A lending library and a quiet reading/work space
Co-working space and socializing space
Meeting space for other queer organizations

The BQC relocated to our new interim community center space March 1, 2025. Moving to this new space provides a larger space for our growing groups, and enables us to secure a long-term lease! We are still located in the vibrant Downtown Arts District of Bellingham, across the street from the Pickford Film Center!
We are currently next door to Voxel Gallery and across the alley from Mount Baker Apartments at:
310 West Champion Street, Bellingham WA 98225
We are open for scheduled meetings, affinity groups, and activities. See our event calendar for upcoming events at the center and in the community.
What’s next?
We are excited to have this 310 space for an interim center. A bit larger space two doors down at 314 West Champion is being improved for us and we should be able to move into that space by June 1, 2025. We will have a painting party prior to moving in so watch the calendar and FB posts!
Volunteer Program Update
We are developing a comprehensive volunteer program to help us staff the center daily. Our volunteer coordinator committee is working on setting up a new app to help us manage onboarding, training and scheduling volunteers. Visit our Volunteer page to learn more about opportunities to help out in several ways.
The BQC is an all volunteer organization and 501(c)3 nonprofit. We rely on volunteers to contribute their skills, talents, and time to support our programs and help to operate this brick-and-mortar community center. Our goal is to build up our volunteer team so we can have the center open for community use from 9:00am to 9:00pm, seven days per week.
Thank you for your continued support of the BQC and the queer community of Bellingham/Whatcom County!
