Generations of Pride; a coalition of BQC, LGBTQ+ Western, and PFLAG Whatcom/Bellingham invites you to join us for our first picnic in the park to celebrate together! We have so much to celebrate! Generations of Pride is growing after 8 months when we launched our first potluck in January. We received a grant to support our program so we will now have a coordinator, transportation support, and funds to purchase food from our local, supportive restaurants. Let’s also celebrate meeting our fundraising goal, a fun filled Pride season, and the end of an amazing summer!
Location
Lake Padden is about 15 minutes from downtown. We reserved the Rotary Club Picnic Shelter near the playground and restrooms in the picnic area near the large field. Use the East Entrance of the park, and drive a bit to the picnic area. There is a gravel walkway, a couple hundred feet, that takes you from the parking lot to the shelter. We will have a couple of balloons on the walkway sign to help guide you.
We have the shelter from 3:00 - 6:00 PM. You may come before that time and enjoy more water and park time, but the shelter will not be available to our group until 3:00 PM. Feel free to stay later too if you are having a good time!
Food and Drinks
We will be catering food and providing beverages. We encourage you to bring your own snacks and beverages if you like. There is a park grill available if you want to bring the necessary items to grill and food to cook. This is a no alcohol event; park rules. There are picnic tables under the shelter, and you can bring your own chairs, tables, and blankets to sit on the grass.
Water Fun and Games
Bring some fun outdoor games to share! Cornhole anyone?! If you want to play in the water bring your kayak, stand up paddle board, and swim gear. How about kites? Frisbee?
Volunteers
We would love help with set up and take down of the event. We are meeting at the Q Center at 1:30 PM to load up then drive over. We will pack up about 6:00 PM and head back to unload. Please email us at info@bellinghamqueercollective.org if you can help out!
Youth and Dog Friends
This is an intergenerational event and youth under 18 May attend with a responsible adult. Youth must be supervised by their responsible adult. Please leave dog friends at home for this event if possible.
